Certified Inspection Station

Pennsylvania State Inspections

Every Pennsylvania vehicle must pass an annual safety inspection at a certified station — and in many counties, an emissions test too. As a certified inspection station, we handle both, keep you road-legal, and tell you straight if anything needs attention to pass.

Safety Inspection
What the inspection covers

Pennsylvania's annual safety inspection makes sure your vehicle's key safety systems are present and working properly. It's not just a sticker — it keeps your car road-worthy and helps hold its value. Our certified inspectors check the essentials:

Brakes
Pads, rotors, lines and overall stopping performance.
Tires
Tread depth, condition, and safe, proper mounting.
Suspension
Steering and suspension components for safe handling.
Exhaust
Exhaust system integrity and proper operation.
Lighting
Headlights, brake lights, signals and markers.
Emissions Testing
Do you need an emissions test?

If you live in a Pennsylvania county that requires emissions testing, you'll generally need to pass the emissions test before your safety inspection can be completed. Emissions testing applies to 1995-and-newer gas vehicles.

For the test, your vehicle is connected to a computer that reads the engine management system and checks for faults that would cause excess emissions from the tailpipe. If your check engine light is on — or worse, blinking — it can cause an automatic emissions failure, so it's best to have it diagnosed and repaired first. Our advanced diagnostics team can sort that out before you test.

Diesel vehicles are not required to pass an emissions test.

Tesla & Electric Vehicles
EV inspections are a different process

Electric vehicles like Tesla don't take an emissions test — there's no tailpipe — but they still need an annual Pennsylvania safety inspection, and inspecting them well takes a different approach. EVs are heavier, deliver instant torque, and have their own set of common wear points and known failure areas. We check the things that actually matter on these vehicles instead of treating them like a gas car.

An EV's instant torque and extra battery weight are hard on tires, brakes, and suspension — often in ways that show up sooner than on a comparable gas vehicle. At the same time, regenerative braking changes how the brakes wear, which can hide problems if you don't know where to look. Our inspection focuses on the wear points and known trouble spots specific to electric vehicles.

No emissions test required — but the safety inspection still applies every year. Bring us your Tesla, Rivian, or other EV and we'll inspect it the right way.

Tires & Alignment
Heavy battery packs and instant torque wear EV tires fast and unevenly — we check tread, wear pattern, and alignment closely.
Brakes & Regen Wear
Regenerative braking means pads and rotors can sit unused and corrode — we inspect for seized calipers, rust, and uneven wear.
Suspension & Bushings
The added weight of an EV puts extra load on control arms, bushings, and suspension components — common wear points we check carefully.
Lighting & Known Faults
We verify all required lighting and look over the model-specific trouble spots and known failures these vehicles are prone to.
